LAFAYETTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL"Future Leaders Learn Here!"
Dear Lafayette Families,
The school year may be coming to a close, but the learning doesn't have to for your children. While summer is a time for students to enjoy the warm weather and get outside to play, it is also a time in which students can lose some of the achievement gains they have made during the school year. Here are some things you can do with your child to beat the "summer slide" by keeping them engaged and learning:
- Visit Bound Brook's Public Library and speak with the librarian about the various programs that are held throughout the summer months
- Create opportunities for your child to read at least 20 minutes every day
- Encourage your child to read by reading aloud to them
- Listen to audiobooks during car trips
- Learn a new word each week and create flashcards to hang on the fridge
Warmest Regards,Ms. Weber
