    Referral Process: Must be a resident of Warren, Hunterdon, or Somerset County, and a parent agreeable to intervention.  All referrals must be received by the Contracted Systems Administrator.  Children who are experiencing suicidal / homicidal ideation and / or significant psychotic symptoms are referred to the county screening authority, with the support and presence of MRSS staff.

    Services Provided: Immediate 24 / 7 / 365 mobilization of crisis staff to homes, schools, or other safe locations where youth between the ages of 4 to 18 are experiencing behaviors putting them at risk of out-of-home placement or hospitalization.  Stabilization services include brokering and referrals for services designed to moderate crisis and keep the child at home and in the community.

    Languages Spoken: Access to translation as needed.

    Transportation: None

    Fee: No fee to any child or family.

    Referral Process: Call Family and Community Services of Somerset County at (732) 356-1082 and ask to speak to an intake person or counselor.  That person will get the appropriate referral information and then explain the procedure from there.  The usual sources of referral include other clients / friends / family, S.C. Probation, Court, various school systems, DCP&P, Board of Social Services, Yellow pages and various other social service agencies.

    Services Provided: Individuals, couples, family, and group counseling addressing various mental health issues, substance abuse, other addictions i.e. compulsive gambling, behavioral and relationship issues.  Part time psychiatrists are available for clients receiving counseling services.

    Languages Spoken: Spanish therapists are available.

    Transportation: None

    Fee: Services are provided on a sliding scale fee based on income and size of family.  Medicaid, Medicare and other insurances accepted.

    Referral Process: Referral sources are diverse, including concerned parents, schools, courts, DCP&P, Tri-County CMO, and other child-servicing institutions and agencies.  Appointments are made by calling the Assessment Center.  The average waiting time is about 1 week.  A triage system is utilized to determine intake availability.  Parent and guardian availability and involvement are required for youth under age 18.

    Services Provided: OUTPATIENT DEPARMENT - Somerset County children, ages 3.5 to 18, and their families can receive individual, group, play, and family therapy.  Problems relating to school, sexual abuse, family violence, substance abuse, and family / social adjustment are dealt with.  Those with learning disabilities and some developmental disabilities are seen and may be assessed and referred for specialized services as needed.  Psychiatric evaluations are available.  Parenting education is also offered and parents can be referred for a range of clinical services as well.

    Transportation: None.  Some clients are transported by DCP&P.  Some services are provided at satellite offices in North Plainfield and Franklin Township.

    Fee: Sliding scale fee ranges from $5.00 to $125.00 for therapy.  Psychological testing and psychiatric evaluations may be higher.  Medicaid and Medicare are accepted, as are traditional reimbursement insurance policies.  RHCMHC is a named provider for some managed care plans and will work with clients in clarifying whether their particular plan will cover services or not.

    METHADONE MAINTENANCE & DETOXIFICATION CLINIC

    Referral Process: Voluntary, social services agencies, schools, clergy, and the criminal justice system are a few of the common sources of referrals.  Client or family member must have a drug and / or alcohol problem or HIV related problem.  Client or family should phone the clinic to set up appointment.

    Services Provided: The program provides outpatient substance abuse counseling for adolescents and adults, which includes individual, group, and family therapy, as well as intensive outpatient services.   Also available at the clinic are drug and alcohol evaluations and laboratory screening.  A methadone maintenance and detoxification clinic provides medical services to opiate-addicted individuals.  Referrals are made to residential programs when necessary and aftercare services are provided.  Additionally, the clinic has HIV-specific substance abuse counseling which provides counseling and referrals (and medication) to individuals and families as needed.  The Clinic provides an adult alcohol education program that provides education to young adults and senior citizens.  Intensive case management services are also provided free of charge.  Psychiatric services are available to all clients.  Anger Management Group is also available.

    The Agency also has Specialized Prevention Services for at-risk families and youth.  Somerset Treatment Service coordinates the Day Program, a continuum of substance abuse intervention and treatment services for youth who are involved with or at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system.  Other participating agencies include: Catholic Charities, Crawford House, The Center for Great Expectations, and Daytop Village.  Services target youth with limited financial resources.

    Referral Process: Referring persons and clients may telephone any office to request services or persons may walk in.  Basic information is taken; the case is given to a supervisor and then assigned to a counselor.  The counselor contacts the client or referral party usually within 1 to 4 days.  All of the programs work with various age groups and are not targeted for any particular disability except the Alcohol Treatment Program.  This program serves residents of Somerset County who reside in Montgomery Township, Rocky Hill Borough, and parts of Franklin Township.

    Services Provided: Services provided include counseling for individuals, couples, families, and groups, as well as alcoholism counseling, family life education, consultation, and employee assistance programs, and school-based programs.

    Transportation: Facilities are in the vicinity of public transportation.  If a person is non-ambulatory or for other serious reasons cannot come to the office location, staff makes home visits.

    Fee: $35.00 - $100.00 per hour.  Person or family must live in service area to utilize the sliding scale fee.  Medicare and most major medical insurances reimburse for services.  Services are not provided at no cost to persons under specific contracts.  Fees can be adjusted in hardship situations. 


    FAMILY CRISIS INTERVENTION UNIT (FCIU)

    Referral Process: The FCIU can receive referrals from any source.  Intakes can be taken by telephone, fax, mail, or in person.

    Services Provided: The FCIU serves children and their families who are in crisis as a result of juvenile / family conflicts, runaway behavior, truancy by the child, or youth who has been a victim of human trafficking.  The unit provides immediate intervention, assessment, and counseling in order to stabilize the crisis without utilizing court involvement.  Staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Staff also provides risk assessments as a result of court order in cases where domestic violence occurs.

    Specialized Services Offered: Can access Family Court for short-term placements and other court intervention as specified by New Jersey Statute.

    Transportation: Can provide off-site services if indicated.

    Fee: No fee is charged for crisis stabilization.  Sliding scale fees are levied for short and long-term counseling.
