The New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) has issued the following Public Health Alert and “Frequently Asked Questions” regarding identified cases of measles in Somerset County. The Middle-Brook Regional Health Commission is closely following this measles investigation and encourages residents to review the documents carefully. Measles is a highly contagious viral illness that can cause serious medical complications. As a result, DOH recommends that anyone who visited the locations identified in the alert during the dates/times listed, contact a health provider immediately to discuss potential exposure and risk of developing the illness. The Health Commission will continue to monitor this situation and if further action is needed it will be taken.
