    Dear School Community Members:

Welcome back to the 2017-2018 academic school year. I hope your summer was rejuvenating and filled with time for personal interests, relaxation, and time with family and friends. It truly feels like the last day of school was only a few days ago, watching the Class of 2017 walk through the archway at the LaMonte field for graduation and the phrase, “I now present to you the Class of 2017” being uttered from my mouth. As I reflect back over the summer months, it becomes more apparent that summer is simply an extension of the school year.

In just a few short weeks, we will be returning for yet another busy year. Although aspirations of an extended summer always enters my thought process, in actuality, I am ready to embrace the grind of the upcoming year and get back to our focus of raising the bar for student achievement.

Furthermore, for the 2017-2018 school year, the high school will continue to expand our 1:1 Chromebook initiative, which serves as the driving force behind instruction, as well as extending our Engineering, Bio-Medical, and Honors academies. Bound Brook High School will also continue to offer a multitude of academic electives and extra-curricular activities for our students to participate in, while creating a strong foundation for their academic success.

As we move into another year, it’s sure to be wrought with new challenges and changes. For example, the high school is transitioning to an A/B Block Schedule with five classes per day, with the addition of a universal study hall during third period. Despite the trials, tribulations, and obstacles that we may encounter with each new school year, our staff is energized, committed, and dedicated to making the upcoming year productive.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, September 11th. @ 7:30 am. Please enjoy your remaining days of summer!

    Best Regards,

    Edward Smith
