    IT'S A SPEECH THING!

    Name: Kristen Martinez
    Title: Speech Language Pathologist
    Email Address: kmartinez2@bbrook.org

I have earned my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Communication Disorders and Master's of Arts Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Kean University. After completing my Master's, clinical internships, and 9-month clinical fellowship, I obtained my Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC's) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Prior to this school district, I worked at the outpatient center at Children's Specialized Hospital, assessing and treating a variety of speech and language disorders (Autism, Downs Syndrome, Fragile X, Traumatic Brain Injury, Dysarthria, Apraxia, Articulation Disorder, Phonological Disorder, Receptive/Expressive Language Disorder, Feeding Disorders). Through my work in the hospital, I have specialized in autism, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and receptive/expressive language disorders. In the school setting, I work with the Child Study Team by evaluating and determining the specific needs of our students. My passion is helping children to see his/her best potential and become functional communicators to enhance their academic performance and social/emotional development. Every child is unique with special skills and it is our responsibility to encourage his/her strengths and support his/her interests.
